ING New York City Marathon — Running for a Life-Saving Cause

On November 5, 2006 more than 30,000 world-class professional athletes participated in one of the world's premier road races, the ING New York City Marathon. As part of the Marathon's Charity Program, the American Legacy Foundation was invited to participate for the first time ever as a New York Road Runners' Charity Partner. The program provides runners guaranteed entry as part of a fundraising initiative. More than 40 runners joined Team Legacy and helped to raise more than $100,000 in support of Legacy's life-saving work.

Runners were treated to a reception prior to the race where they had an opportunity to learn more about truth®, Legacy's youth smoking prevention campaign and our newest cessation initiative, EX. Legacy is grateful to New York Road Runners for the opportunity to raise awareness and support for the foundation.
