Phase II of PPI Grants Initiative

The foundation is pleased to announce the second phase in its grants program to eliminate disparities in access to tobacco prevention and cessation. Priority Populations Initiative, Phase II: Reducing Disparities in Tobacco Control through Community-based Intervention, will distribute up to $2 million over three years for projects aimed at:

  1. developing innovative, community-level interventions which integrate smoking cessation into health promotion programs;
  2. addressing the dual challenge of tobacco use and underage drinking or substance abuse; or
  3. reducing secondhand smoke exposure through the use of in-home smoking bans utilizing faith-based approaches to health promotion.
This initiative represents the American Legacy Foundation's® commitment to support grassroots efforts aimed at raising public awareness of tobacco's deadly toll, increasing tobacco-use quit rates, and reducing exposure to secondhand smoke.

All interested applicants must submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) in the early fall of 2006 (guidelines will be posted at www.americanlegacy.org in July 2006).
