Board Appointments

Irma BrownThe foundation welcomes Arkansas State Senator Irma Hunter Brown to its Board of Directors. Brown is the first African American woman in Arkansas' history to serve as a state senator, and has been representing Little Rock since 2002. In 1980 she became the first African American woman ever elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives and served in that position until 1998. She is an active member of the Arkansas Senate serving as Chair of the City, County, and Local Affairs Committee and serving on several other committees including: Children and Youth Committee, Judiciary Committee, Legislative Joint Auditing Committee and the Senate Efficiency Committee. Brown serves on the Executive Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures and also serves on the board of directors for the Arkansas' Museum of Science and History.
