Sign the Petition to Keep Smoking out of Youth-Rated Movies

For several years, the Smoke Free Movies Action Network — a coalition consisting of grassroots organizations, national public health groups and parent and youth groups nationwide — has been urging the MPAA and the major Hollywood studios to adopt four evidence-based policies that would help counter the impact of smoking in movies on youth starting to smoke. These include: 1) Rate any new movie with smoking R; 2) Certify that nothing of value was received in exchange for the depiction of tobacco in a movie; 3) End all brand appearances; and 4) Include strong and effective anti-smoking ads before all movies in which tobacco is depicted. There is broad public support for these principles.

If your organization is interested in participating in activities related to Smoke Free Movies, please contact lcruzada@americanlegacy.org or join thousands of people worldwide in signing this global petition asking the studios to support these four principles.
