Message from the President

Dear Colleagues,

The New Year has just begun, but we at the American Legacy Foundation® are marking it in a new location. On January 7, we moved to a new address in Washington, D.C. The move makes it possible for all of our staff to be housed together, and also allows the organization to become more environmentally- friendly as the building was designed to meet 'green' certification. For more information on our green space, please read this month's article Legacy Goes Green.

Legacy's new home will also house the new Steven A. Schroeder National Institute for Tobacco Research and Policy Studies. The new research center will collaborate with the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health in its efforts to advance the science behind social marketing, smoking cessation and tobacco control policy -- and assist the foundation in translating those findings into practice. We are also proud to welcome Dr. David Abrams as the Institute's new Executive Director.

We hope to welcome you to our new offices over the course of the New Year. Best wishes from all of us for a healthy, successful and productive 2008!

Sincerely,
