And the Scholarship goes to…
Recipients of the Alma Adams Scholarship Award Announced

Public education about tobacco use is the core of the America Legacy Foundation®'s mission. Through the Alma S. Adams Scholarship Awards, Legacy recognizes youth and young adults who use their creative abilities to raise community awareness of the consequences of using tobacco, especially amongst disadvantaged populations. The scholarship program was created in honor of former American Legacy Foundation® Board member Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. Adams spent six years on the foundation Board, serving as its vice-chair and devoting considerable service to tobacco use among disadvantaged populations.

This year's scholarship recipients are Anthony Calegari-Heimuli of San Mateo, CA and Andrew Lyle Riesenburg of Cambridge, Mass. Calegair-Heimuli will be attending the University of Washington this upcoming fall, while Riesenburg is preparing for his second year in the master's program at Harvard University School of Public Health.

Calegari-Heimuli's creative piece was a poem about young people's decision to smoke and reasons why youth should avoid smoking. Riesenburg's creative piece was a radio and television public service announcement which discussed the issue of smoking in the movies.
