NAAG, Hermes Creative Awards 2007 Honor American Legacy Foundation®

Awards continue for the work of the American Legacy Foundation® this year. The organization's public health efforts have been recognized by the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG), and the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals (AMCP)' Hermes Creative Awards 2007.

As a part of NAAG's Centennial Celebration on June 19-21, the association presented, for the first time in its history, an award to a national public health organization. As the beneficiary of the award, the American Legacy Foundation® is recognized for its efforts to save the lives of youth and adults from tobacco-related diseases and illnesses. The award symbolizes NAAG's appreciation for Legacy's public health work, educational outreach and campaigns, and ongoing partnership with state Attorneys General in myriad endeavors to expand tobacco prevention and cessation efforts in our country.

Vital to Legacy's tobacco control efforts is the truth® youth smoking prevention campaign. The foundation Communications team and its agency for truth® public relations outreach — the ad*itive — were recently honored for their work around last summer's truth® tour, an event which capitalizes on the fun and engaging atmospheres of summer music tours to spread information about tobacco and tobacco industry marketing practices. The AMCP honored the team's work as part of the Hermes Creative Awards 2007 competition. The team's two entries, "truth® Orange Summer Tour 2006 Television Placement" and "truth® Orange Summer Tour 2006 PR Campaign," both received Platinum Awards, the highest honor in the competition. Platinum winners are recognized for the exceptional quality, creativity, and resourcefulness of their work.

The Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for professionals involved in the concept, writing, and design of media. It consists of several thousand marketing, communications, advertising, public relations, media production, and free-lance professionals.
