Run in the New York ING Marathon on Behalf of the American Legacy Foundation |
 |
The American Legacy Foundation has been chosen for a second year in a row by the New York Road Runners to participate as a charity partner for the 2007 ING New York City Marathon. As part of the charity program, Legacy will have an opportunity to guarantee entries for runners to compete in this world-class road race. The event will take place on Sunday, November 4th, throughout the five boroughs of New York City.
The chance to run in the ING New York City Marathon is highly coveted. The New York Road Runners select runners from a pool of 90,000 applicants of which less than half gain entrance. By registering to run on behalf of the American Legacy Foundation, runners are able to receive a guaranteed spot if they agree to raise a minimum of $2,500. As a charity partner, Legacy will receive funds that will further its life-saving mission to raise awareness about the deadly health consequences of smoking, and to provide people with tools and services to help them quit. To encourage each runner to raise as much money as possible, Legacy will provide runners with fundraising tools and offer prize incentives.
To be guaranteed entry in the marathon, runners are encouraged to register between June 1st and September 30th. Slots fill quickly so potential runners should register online as soon as possible at www.americanlegacy.org/ingnycmarathon. Interested participants can also call the foundation's benefits office at 212.843.1718 for questions or additional details.
