Stephanie Dobbins Joins Legacy's Youth Activism Council

Stephanie Dobbins, a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, has been active in the fight against Big Tobacco since serving as group leader for SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco) in her native Oklahoma. Stephanie, 18, was recently selected to serve on Legacy's Youth Activism Council (YAC) which serves to help Legacy continue in its efforts to educate young people about the health risks of tobacco use as well as offer training and resources to organizations across the country. Stephanie's work in tobacco control includes serving on the board of a local program in Cherokee county that was established by the Oklahoma tobacco settlement endowment trust. She is also a student representative for Tahlequah's B.E.S.T. substance abuse prevention community coalition. The Tahlequah High School senior was chosen to serve on Legacy's council from a field of more than 70 nominees.
