The Atlantic Monthly and American Legacy Foundation Highlight Photography While Promoting Smoking Cessation |
 |
Building on an important long-term partnership, The Atlantic Monthly and the American Legacy Foundation co-hosted a reception earlier this year featuring the work of famed photographer Richard Avedon. The unique event illustrated Legacy's continued efforts to promote smoking cessation, especially among women.
The evening's attendees included designers Cynthia Steffe, Edward Wilkerson, Adrienne Landau and Celerie Kemble as well as fashion executives Constance White (eBay), David Lauren (Polo/Ralph Lauren), Paige Pedersen (Fendi), and make-up industry leader Paula Dorf. All guests received information on the influence of fashion, movies and media on young women and the power of those industries to curb smoking prevalence. Guests were encouraged to support Legacy's efforts to provide a positive and smoke-free image in the worlds of fashion and beauty.
