EX sm New Campaign Gives Smokers Tools to Quit |
 |
EX sm, a new campaign created to give smokers who want to quit the actual tools they need to be successful, will launch this month in Buffalo, New York. The Buffalo campaign, created by the American Legacy Foundation and implemented in partnership with the New York Department of Health and Roswell Park, aims to change smokers’ perceptions of quitting by empowering them with valuable resources to help them quit. EXsm is a comprehensive offering consisting of:
- television and radio ads
- a quit manual offering helpful quit-smoking information on planning, medication, counseling/coaching and social support
- a Web site where smokers can research Web-based cessation services and develop their own customized quit plans online
EXsm tools used input from current and former smokers who have struggled with their nicotine addiction. The program offers a realistic, research-based, step-by-step approach to quitting smoking.
Buffalo, N.Y. is the first of four test markets where EXsm will launch over the next four months. Additional markets include San Antonio, TX; Grand Rapids, MI; and Baltimore, MD. Creative for EXsm was produced by Austin, Texas-based advertising agency GSD&M, the foundation's agency of record for cessation marketing. For more information on EXsm, visit www.becomeanex.org.
