Thania Balcorta Thania Balcorta, 18, a freshman at the University of California, Davis, has been selected to serve as the Youth Board Liaison to the American Legacy Foundation Board of Directors. Thania, also a senior member of Legacy's Youth Activism Council, has been involved in tobacco control efforts since the 8th grade as a member of the Yolo County (California) Youth Anti-Tobacco Coalition. She currently serves as president of another youth coalition, YUFA STAR (Youth United for Action Showing Tobacco Ain't Right) and serves as a council member for Friday Night Live, an alcohol and tobacco prevention organization. Thania, currently majoring in Community and Regional Development at Davis, has worked tirelessly in the fight to rid her community of the scourge of tobacco, and her tobacco control efforts led to a feature article profiling her work in the November 2005 issue of CosmoGirl! magazine.
